The Dry Sand Abrasion Test Rig is used to study abrasion resistance of materials to dry sand. This test rig uses a rubber wheel, against which a test sample is pressed using a lever loaded by dead weights. Silica abrasive media is fed from a hopper using a nozzle. The nozzle ejects abrasive media between the rubber wheel and test sample. The test is run for a set number of revolutions. The test rig automatically shuts off after the preset number of revolutions are completed. Sample wear is measured by volume loss.
